Sustainable Development The LEED Council is at the forefront of Sustainable Development with staff expertise in energy efficiency, green buildings and sustainable economic development. We promote sustainable development that fosters socially responsible economic growth while reducing environmental impact. By furthering business and community awareness and adoption of green practices, we will: ▪ Reduce air pollution and decrease emissions by promoting energy efficiency, transportation options, and use of non-toxic products; ▪ Advance new technology for alternative fuels, recycling, and green building development; and ▪ Improve the ecological footprint of our corridor. To download our Business Recycling Guide, click here. The LEED Council shares it’s acronym with another prestigious sustainability focused program, the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification program of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). While the LEED Council can provide references relating to LEED certification, general information on that green building rating system is available at www.usgbc.org. Our December 2009 Energy Efficiency Forum hosted by Gabriel Environmental Services included:
